The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to Germany’s statements on the incident with Navalny

The Russian Foreign Ministry called the statements of German colleagues on the incident with Alexey Navalny a propaganda attack. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

Earlier, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maasao said that he would discuss with partners from other countries the general reaction to the poisoning of Navalny. He also stressed that the European Union can quickly agree on sanctions against all those who are engaged in the development of chemical warfare agents in Russia.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia sent requests for legal assistance to Germany, but did not receive a response, so the investigation does not have enough materials to initiate a criminal case. The ministry also said that Berlin has not provided the results of tests confirming poisoning.

Earlier it was reported that France and Germany are preparing a package of sanctions, according to which some GRU employees may be punished for the incident with Alexey Navalny.

Navalny became ill on August 20 during a flight from Tomsk to Moscow. In the first two days, he was treated by doctors of the Omsk hospital. They put him in an artificial coma. On August 22, the patient was sent to a clinic in Berlin, whose doctors announced the discovery of traces of a substance from the Novichok group in Navalny’s body. In September, Navalny was brought out of a coma and discharged, after rehabilitation, he intends to return to Russia.
